1. This is a 1day boat tournament for Wahoo,
Dolphin and King Mackerel. There is no limit on team size
but only one entrant per boat is permitted. Entrants must
register for the Tournament and pay the entry fee of $250.00
no later than 8:00 pm Friday, May 6, 2010. Rules will only
be read at the Captain’s meeting. All anglers (or boats if
charted) must be properly licensed. A minimum of one member
of the Halifax River YC, Sunset Harbor YC, Smyrna YC, Palm
Coast YC, or St. Augustine YC must be present on each
vessel.
2. Eligible fish must be caught during tournament hours on a
vessel that leaves and returns via Ponce Inlet. Boats may
not start fishing prior to 6:30 am on May 7. Bait may be
gathered prior to that time. If the U.S. Weather Service
issues a Small Craft Caution or greater at the 5:30 am
forecast, fishing is automatically postponed to the
alternate date. All fish submitted for weigh-in must be
caught using techniques and tackle accepted by the IGFA.
Electric reels, treble hooks (except on lures as provided by
the manufacturer), and wire lines are not permitted. In
addition to the minimum weights described in Rule # 4, all
catches must be legal according to current State and Federal
rules.
3. There will be a Committee Boat stationed just inside
Ponce Inlet to be used for check-in. Boats must check in
between 3:00 pm and 5:30 pm whether they have fish to weigh
or not. Check in is visual and by radio. Boats must check in
by hailing the tournament committee on VHF Channel 68 and or
displaying their assigned boat number. You must check in by
5:30 pm to be eligible to weigh fish. Once checked in, the
Committee Boat will radio or call your check-in to the
Weigh-in Committee. You will be assigned a weigh-in number
and may be instructed to go to VHF channel 69 for further
instructions from the Dock Master. Any boat failing to check
in will be disqualified. Fish must be weighed in at SHYC
between 3:30 pm and 6:00 pm on May 7. Boats may not tie up
to any dock or other boat prior to weigh-in. Angler must be
present at weigh-in. If you have no fish to weigh, you must
still check in. We ask that you do this so that no vessels
are left behind. Safety is our utmost priority.
4. Each boat can only weight two fish per species. Dolphin
or King must weigh at least 10 pounds. Wahoo must weigh at
least 15 pounds. Cash prizes will be awarded for the 3
heaviest fish in each category and the heaviest “slam” (one
of each species). The overall “slam” tournament with in a
tournament (an additional $50 entry fee) winner will be
determined by the highest total weight of all 3fish weighed;
one of each species King, Wahoo and Dolphin. In case of a
tie, the boat with the lowest check in number will be
declared the winner. Lady Angler prize will be awarded to
the female angler with the largest single fish of any
species. Fish must be fought by the lady angler to qualify.
5. All winners are subject to random polygraph testing prior
to receiving awards. Any infraction of tournament rules will
disqualify all fish caught on that boat. Any protest must be
submitted in writing to the Tournament director with a
$100.00 deposit within 1 hour of the tournament final
weigh-in.
6. Distressed Tournament Vessel: Distressed vessels will not
be eligible for weighing fish. All tournament vessels must
leave the dock and return to the dock under their own power
to be eligible to weigh fish in the contest.
7. All tournament entrants must abide by Florida Laws. If
you speed down the channel to get to the weigh-in in time,
you will probably be pulled over by law enforcement. Don’t
do that…..
Above all – the rule is ….. be safe and have fun!
